Local Land Services (LLS) Central Tablelands is partnering with WildFlowers Australia to host an information day about commercial wildflower growing. ‘Growing wildflowers for profit – the real story’ will provide essential background for anyone interested in learning more about entering this industry. The wildflower industry grows and markets flowers and foliage from a wide range of Australian and closely related South African species for the floristry industry.

Guest speakers will be Bettina Gollnow, Communications & Extension Manager with WildFlowers Australia, Ben McInnes (from Brush Top Farm) and grower and domestic wholesaler Craig Scott from East Coast Wildflowers. Together, they have many years of experience in wildflower industry development, and growing and selling a wide range of wildflower crops for both domestic and export markets.

The program will provide participants with a realistic industry overview, profiling the industry and its key markets, the essentials for setting up a commercial farm and the basics of managing wildflower crops. While the program is targeted towards opportunities in the Central West, participants from further afield are welcome to attend.

The day will be held on Tuesday March 6, 2018 at the Orange Botanic Garden. The cost is $40 per person to cover venue hire and catering. Registration is required. Go to https://www.facebook.com/events/682696151934969/ or https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=34036
