WildFlowers Australia Events 2024
WFA had a super busy year in 2024! A substantial program of events educated growers, florists and the industry in general about wildflowers (including the difference between natives and South African). These were designed to provide value to WFA members and attract new members, appealing especially to new growers who had formed nearly half the delegate base at the 2023 National Wildflower Conference in Echuca.
Our 2024 events included:
Farm Visit: Victoria, The Wildflower Bunch, Kevin & Milusa Giles, 1 June 2024
Grower’s Event: WA, Wafex, Kings Park, Plantation Wildflowers, Harris Farm, 20-21 September 2024
Farm Visit: NSW, Bush Roses, Sus & Derek Bush, 26 October 2024
Webinar series – New Grower’s Webinar, Episodes 1, 2 and 3 - held over the winter months
Walking on the Wildside – Floral Demonstration and Workshop, 19 & 20 September 2024
2024 WildFlowers Australia National Student Floristry Competition
The events program was a strong success and supported our underlying goals of building the industry and encouraging more members to become involved.
· In total 400 people attended, reaching participants in every state – and overseas thanks to the Webinars.
· New growers were well served, with the webinar series specifically designed for them. On average, 35% of farm visit attendees were new growers.
· WFA membership has grown approximately 25% since March 2024 - there is good evidence to support a correlation between events and new members joining
WFA is looking forward to hosting another busy events program in 2025, with planning already underway for more farm visits, webinars and the Walking on the Wildside – Floral Demonstration. The National Student Floristry Competition will also be held.
Preliminary work will also start early this year to develop the next national conference being held in 2026.
